Testimonials

  • « I always tell people, that I’m a 99.9% digital photographer through my work but a 100% analog photographer in heart.

For my scans I use SilverFast and never looked back, awesome software with great results. Now they released their new SRDx plug-in and this makes the scanning process much easier and faster because the “labour of love” can now be done via Photoshop and with much more control. »

  • « With the new SRDx plug-in, as we know from the market-leading scanner software SilverFast, Photoshop can now eliminate image defects in a controlled way. The advantage over the “dust and scratch” noise filter in Photoshop is the precise display with the option “Mark defects”. Here you can set and control the repair spots very precisely by adjusting defect size and recognition, which is not possible with Photoshop. »

  • « Quite simply, the ease of use and quick power of SRDx is impressive. Originally a film photographer, I have been using Silverfast scanning software since I began scanning slides. Cloning has always been a time consuming job. With over a 1,000,000 image bank, 2/3 of those transparencies, I have enough scanning to keep me busy for a while. The image from the Great Smoky Mountains is an extreme, yet effective, example of what can be done in only a few minutes using SRDx. SRDx is a powerful new addition to my plugin tools. »

  • « The good news is: SRDx does the job it is supposed to do very well and very efficiently. More importantly it does an excellent job of not destroying real detail even in the areas it fixes. Image repair is a mind numbingly boring repetitive task, and SRDx saves me great chunks of time and sanity. »

  • « The SilverFast SRDx plug-in allows me to combine filter settings for dust and scratch removal from SilverFast with versatile Photoshop features. A key point here is the use of layers and layer masks. This not only saves editing time, but also enables a very precise correction of my black-and-white scans – nothing left to be desired.

The SRDx algorithm does not compromise sharpness and detail richness of high-resolution scans. Thus, this is a tool, which saves time without affecting the image quality. »

  • « What makes the new SRDx tool so attractive is that it brings a very effective method of cleanup to those who do not have scanners with Digital Ice or its equivalent (many of which require a hardware/software combination) and especially for black-and-whites and Kodachromes, which Digital Ice cannot handle. In using the software, I found the fine tuning impressive.

It eliminates the flaws that auto-correct (thus overdone) cleanup protocols often render. Another bonus is that the tool also works with print scans, which I believe will be a boon for retouchers as well as those who want to delve into the family archives. »
